Damage Control
Destruction, a recurring theme of Matt Plezier, has been employed by him as a means of questioning facades of power and deconstructing structures of perception; and commenting upon a host of pressing artistic, cultural, and social issues.
For the opening exhibition of Cardinal Collection, Matt Plezier showcases his prints and publications, focusing on the raw, cut up esthetics and creation processes he utilizes. Revealing his background rooted in Punk DIY culture.
Matt Plezier invites the viewer to explore the realm of imperfection, resilience, and perceptions.

Matt Plezier is a self-taught artist whose work reflects upon issues of alienation, anonymity (in)visibility and ways of constructing and disseminating narratives. It mirrors his own multi-cultural background and provides its viewer a different narrative in an unambiguous and sometimes confrontational form.
Self-publishing through MonoRhetorik, is a major part of his art practice. With themes ranging from underground cultures, media to current issues. With Setareh Noorani he forms SMET, an art duo, working on projects involving spaces of appropriation and interventions in the public space. Matt is part of the P1 curatorial collective at de Sportschool, a project space in Rotterdam, The Netherlands.
