Fan Alan Phelan

Artist by Alan Phelan

Cardinal Collection Editions invited the Irish artist Alan Phelan for the summer 2026 new fan.

This new limited edition has been made to celebrate Alan’s participation in 61st International Art Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia.

The fan uses a quote from queer icon Jean Genet taken from his unfinished epic poem “Fragments … [1954]”. Another quote is used for a wall text mural in the exhibition. Both are powerfully ambiguous and political.

Do not miss Alan’s work in the Arsenale and Central Pavilion, open from 9 May till 22 November, 2026.
